I last used Scrivener a week ago. I opened it up tonight and no project within the last 22 months will open. Only one or two very old projects will open. I am running version 3.3.6 on MacOS Ventura 13.5. I do not use Dropbox.
When I try to open a project, either by double-clicking on it, or by choosing it from Scrivener’s File > Open menu, nothing happens. Nada. I have restarted my computer. I have deleted Scrivener and re-installed it. I have tried opening backup copies of these files. I can, as I said, open very old projects and initiate new ones, but I cannot open a file I worked on last week or last year.
What kind of security software are you running, and has it updated recently? That kind of complete failure usually means something is preventing Scrivener from accessing the files at all: if Scrivener tries to open a project and fails, it produces an error message.
If you locate one of the problem projects in Finder, right-click, and choose the option to Show Package Contents, what do you see?
