Scrivener hangs and crashes when trying to open file on macOS Ventura (possible Spotlight / HD indexing issue?)

Title says it all. Since yesterday, I can’t open Scrivener at all. It will hang from the start menu (where I’m meant to pick a project file to open), and will also crash if I double-click a project file in the Finder. It also tends to crash my Finder in the process. No idea what’s going on.
I deleted and reinstalled Scrivener, to no avail.

It also seems that macOS is re-indexing my harddrive (with little / no progress). Is it possible that Scrivener relies on a properly indexed hd for proper functionality?

Thanks for any insights

Does Scrivener freeze when you try to open a project from the start menu or even before that? Was at least one project open when you last closed Scrivener? And have you set it to Reopen projects that were open on quit?

And where have you saved your projects, in a folder that gets synced? Like the Desktop or the Documents folder, if you had set macOS to do so?
