Scrivener in iPad doesn’t start

I have worked With Scrivener on my iPad but sudderly it doesn’t start anymore when I click on the S icon. Why?

I use Scrivener on my iPad infrequently, but I just had this happen to me, too. Scrivener seems to start, but then the launch screen just swoops away dumping me back to the Home Screen. Same behavior, no matter how many times I try. Rebooting ipad makes no difference. iPad Air 4, in case that makes any difference.

If it were me, I’d make sure my iOS Scrivener projects were safely stored elsewhere off the iOS device and re-installable (e.g. in a synced location), then delete the Scrivener App, then reinstall the app from the App Store and reinstall the projects.

Apple doesn’t provide many troubleshooting steps for mis-behaving apps.

To that end, here is an article in the knowledge base on backing up your work. Scrivener stores your projects in an easy to access location, in Files.app, so you can get your data to a safe location even if the software doesn’t launch.

And the thought to uninstall Scrivener and reinstall again from @rms I suspect is a very good one.

Things can get corrupted in iPads, if it doesn’t often happen, and remove/reinstall resets the app’s operating information so it’s happy again. Could well be it’s Apple’s iPadOS updates that once in a while scramble things a little.

In fact, I’d had the Google News app suddenly snap-closing on me, when touching some articles, and did a number of things I thought might help (like clearing the Safari cache), but none did.

Removing and reinstalling the app, though, looks like it’s done the trick.

Yeah, I had eventually thought to do that myself and was just coming back here to report on the success of uninstall/reinstall. Thanks everybody for helping out.
