Scrivener iphone back-ups

I recently upgraded to Scrivener 3 on my laptop. Scrivener on my iphone is creating back-up every time I sync it. Is there a way for me to stop the backups on the iphone? I do not want to overload it with data. I regularly make backups on my laptop.

Scrivener for iOS does not create any backups automatically. The only way to do so is manually, by exporting the project as a .zip file. Something else must be generating these backups.

Are your Mac backups going into the directory that syncs with the iPhone?

Katherine

Katherine, I do not know? How do I find out?

Scrivener -> Preferences -> Backups on the Mac will tell you what your automatic backup directory is, and let you change it.

Katherine

I checked the backup directory, and the backup zip files are stored on my laptop and not in Dropbox from where I sync my iphone.

I synced my phone twice today and no additional backups were created, but the syncing is very slow even if I sync twice in a row without even opening a single file. Is it because the iphone app is not upgraded yet?

What’s your internet connection like?

Katherine

My internet connection is fine. I am surprised because sometimes I do not even make any changes in the file and it still takes a long time. I have not timed it but it is definitely longer than 2 mins.

Do you have any way of monitoring your device’s net usage, perhaps at the router level? For all we know the device is requesting an update from the Dropbox server and taking a long time to get a response—i.e. there is nothing Scrivener could do differently other than wait.

I can see if there is an app to give me this information. Is it possible that my file is too big? I basically have only one file in which I keep all my projects in different folders and many nested folders.

How large is the project?

The file is 2.8 MB and growing almost daily.
