Scrivener No Longer Recognizes That I Have a Cover Photo!

Thank you!

It’s being a dork about chapter titles now during compile. Should I start a new thread for that?

Sure, start a new one! We’re fairly lax about it on the forums, but it is a nice nod to categorisation and anyone trying to browse threads or use the search!

Hi! I’m having a similar problem with it not recognizing my cover photo. In the compile screen, when compiling for mobi, it shows no images in the file. But I do have a jpg in the Front Matter section. I’ve done “check for updates” and I have the latest version.

I’ve tried moving the cover page outside the main book folder, to the highest level in the tree. I’ve tried bringing in the image both with copy/paste, and by using edit/insert/image from file.

Any suggestions?

The cover image should be imported into the binder directly–it will have a little image icon. Your project has a “Cover” text document that has an image inserted into it, which means Scrivener is seeing that as a text item rather than an image item and isn’t listing it for the cover options, which only support image files.

You can either drag in the original image from your hard drive to the binder or, if you don’t have access to it, you can right-click the image in the Cover document and choose “Save As Picture” and save it to your drive, then import it to the binder.

Note also that you can’t include non-text files in the Draft folder (retitled “The Mind Haven” in your project), so you’ll need to import the file somewhere else. You could move your entire Front Matter container out of the Draft and then import the image there; you can select Front Matter separately in compile, so you’ll still be able to include that at the top of your compile contents.

You’re awesome, thank you so much!!! That totally solved my problem.

Now it’s complaining that my image is too small, but that’s a personal issue.

:unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

So, there does not seem to be a :smiley:ork emoticon. I could certainly use one.

Problem solved. Somehow during the saving of the file, the image size was changed from my original document size of 600x800 pixels to 480 X 640. (?) Have no idea why or how that happened. Anyhow, I resized the image and it is now my first E-Book cover.

Thank you very much for your timely and thoughtful help!

Cheers,
Dennis
