Winapps sound a cool idea: running on an composed OS image setup for you by docker or podman, the GUI is blended into your Linux desktop using RDP fairy dust. It supports Adobe and MS apps, and so hopefully should work with Scrivener if anyone is willing or has given it a go?
It’s worth a try. I’m trying hard to get away from a Windows writing environment. A native Scrivener on Linux would be best.
Out of curiosity, is it to get away from Co-pilot? I ask because I’m on Windows myself.
There is so much overhead with Windows. My travel laptop is a throwaway. It is so slow with Windows, very fast booting Ubuntu.
Co-pilot is one part of the bloat. Chrome has been my nemesis too. I just want to write and publish. Not see advertisements, be forced to upgrade, or chase new hardware.
Makes great sense. Let us know how you do with the change.
A parallel project with similar aims and what seems to be an even more seamless interface? I still haven’t had time to play with these options in comparison to WINE etc.
