Scrivener on two devices. Dropbox or not?

Hi, I have two MacBooks with Scrivener on both of these devices. My documents are placed in my icloud. Can I open a document without using DropBox ?

I use iCloud to sync between macOS devices. It works perfectly, so long as I don’t open a project on multiple devices concurrently.

Dropbox is only needed when syncing with iOS or iPadOS devices.

SWM, Thank you a lot for your answer. I’m not a fan of Dropbox so it’s a good new for me.
Have a good day !

Welcome. Some additional advice here (which I added to my original post at the same time that you just posted your message to me):

Make sure you have not set Apple iCloud to “optimise” disk space, and Dropbox is set for “offline”.

My experience is that Apple iCloud is sometimes unreliable at doing things, not just synching folders; whereas Dropbox is always quick and always works.
