I have Scrivener3 working great on my desktop with Zorin (linux). I’m looking to make it more portable by getting a cheap chromebook and putting Zorin on it and installing Scrivener on that. I need to know the hardware requirements though.
Hit the archives here and someone said min 16GB RAM and just about any basic HD storage will do (most are min 500GB these days)
Is the RAM correct? Or will it run on 4-8GB RAM?
About what processing speed do I need to hit? 2.0ghz?
Scrivener itself has a very modest system footprint. It’s designed around the idea that many writers don’t use the latest and greatest hardware.
With that said, 4 GB RAM is pretty tiny these days. Scrivener will probably run, but you’d have a good chance of running into performance issues if, say, you tried to Compile a project the size of the Scrivener manual, or if you were running anything significant other than Scrivener.
Nothing significant if all you’re using in Scrivener is text.
Remember since you’re using Windows as a source, from version 3.1.5 onwards the operating system requirement is exclusively 64-bit, if that’s at all significant in the world of Zorin–I wouldn’t know. If it is and your chosen machine is not, you can always use version 3.1.4, which is available for download from the L&L website.
