I searched the posts in the forum but I don’t see this question for iPad. Forgive me if I’ve missed it.
Is there a way to set the default font on the iPad? If I create a project in Windows, sync it, then open it in iPad OS, it looks good. I don’t like serif fonts because they look so old-fashioned. I normally write in Verdana or Roboto, or my internal experience is very much like eating on a dirty table and it’s distracting. I know, I’m weird. Any help is much appreciated.
If there is no way, I will add this request to the Wishlist area of the forum.
Sorry to reply to my own post but I am very new to Scrivener and I am still uncomfortable with it. I very much want to use it but it seems to be inconsistent and unpredictable for me. I am testing various scenarios between my iPad Pro and Surface Pro 8, and when I create a project on my iPad, sync, then edit on my Surface, when I reopen the project on the iPad, the fonts are strangely coming up in Courier. Courier is better than other serif fonts to my eyes but all of these changing fonts is something that I don’t like, as I am pretty particular with that aspect of my writing. To me, fonts are like colors to an artist or musical notes to a musician. They stir feelings and inspiration within me so I like to control them carefully in order to maintain the a desired internal timbre.
I suspect fonts are default (on the iPad) for various project types (e.g., letter, script, etc.) since a program like Final Draft open in Courier but I’m not sure.
Does anyone have any info on these font concerns of mine?
For your fonts question refer to " Using Fonts Across Platforms". The font(s) you choose to work with will need to exist on both your Windows and iOS devices. This article speaks to that.
For setting default formatting on iOS, see “Changing Formatting and Setting Default Formatting on iOS”. Default formatting is configured per device, so you’ll need to separately set Windows Scrivener and iOS Scrivener to the same defaults.
Yes, you can change the default formatting on your iOS device. Open a document and click into the editor so the cursor is active and the keyboard pops up. Type in a couple of words, then highlight that text.
In the formatting bar above the keyboard, swipe right until you find the paintbrush. Click on that, and under the Style tab, manually adjust the font formatting to your liking. Then, click “Formatting Options” (still in the Style tab) and tap “Set as Default Formatting.”
Any text you write after making this change will be default to Verdana or whatever you set your default formatting to. Any text you wrote before this change can be updated by highlighting it and selecting the “Use Default Formatting” option in the Formatting Options menu.
