Through a series of merges and splits on a document a snapshot ended up on wrong document. I was trying to get it back into place when I somehow triggered a crash by doing a merge. When I loaded Scrivener again, the snapshot was completely missing.
Unfortunately, the snapshot had been created in the same Scrivener session where the crash occured so no backup. Is there any other possible place I could look?
You could look in the Snapshots subfolder of your project, itself, using File Explorer to search file contents for a phrase you know to be in it. I suppose in theory if the crash happened at just the wrong time, so that Item B was removed but its snapshot had not been reassigned to Item A yet, it might still be on the disk, associated with the internal ID number for Item B, and thus orphaned. It won’t show up anywhere in the project because Item B no longer exists, but it would still be on the disk.
