HI everyone!
I studied the explanation video (literatureandlatte.com/lear … 3?os=macOS) several times. But whatever I try, in the split view a new document is always shown in the (splitted) left window resp. the upper window. In other words, even when I click in split view on the right window it doesn’t turn into blue, like it is said in the video.
Any ideas what is wrong?

So, the header on one editor never turns blue for you, even if you click into the editor? Is the header (with a document title in it) visible?
Right. Each of the headers are visible, but the right doesn’t turn blue. Instead there is a small blue line on the bottom of the header. Like this:
I just tried with a new blank document the same feature. It works as it should for the new doc. But the file with the problem was created originally with Scrivener 1. Could the several upgrades be the reason for the problem?

The difference comes from the Navigate > Binder Selection Affects setting.
The blue underline indicates the current, active editor, that has focus and will receive menu commands and for which the inspector–unless locked to the other editor–is showing metadata. The blue background to the header indicates the editor that is affected by binder clicks, i.e. which editor will load a document selected in the binder.
In a new project from the default templates, the binder is set to affect the current editor, so the background and blue underline appear together on the same editor. Your existing project is set for binder clicks either to specifically affect the left editor (when there is a split) or the “other” editor, i.e. whichever one is not the current editor.
