I just finished Stardust by Joseph Kanon (he wrote the novel The Good German, which became a film of the same name starring George Clooney). Like all Kanon’s work, Stardust is an atmospheric, period piece. This one takes place in Hollywood in the fall of 1945. It’s a suspenseful, well-written walk through the start of red-baiting, communist witch hunts, with a couple of un-historic, but satisfying turns. I couldn’t put it down until I turned the last page.
