Just a quick suggestion – I’ve noticed that we can’t do bold, italic, underline, or lists inside our Index Cards, and would just like to put in a vote to change this. I’d really like to be able to have, say, a bulleted or numbered list on certain cards, and to use bold and italic to emphasize certain text, so as to tell me to remember something important, etc. Not that I want to turn the faces of my Index cards into documents in their own right (egads, no). Just a little more formatting choice, is all. I know this sounds very trivial, and like one of those “Why would anyone want to do that?” kinds of thing, but with certain writing and novel-outlining styles, this would be a real boon!
Yes, the problem is that the text of index cards can also be part of the outliner (which is based on Apple’s NSOutlineView, which doesn’t support such formatting for editing, although it can display it - although it certainly would never be able to support lists). So, I don’t think that this is really possible without pretty much creating a brand new outliner from scratch. (That said, it’s on my 3.0 list for consideration, but I wouldn’t want to get your hopes up - I very much doubt it will happen, even though I will be thinking about it some more.)
For bulleted lists, though, you could always hit opt-8 to create a new bullet on each line - that’s the closest you’d ever be able to get in a control such as this anyway.
