Sudden issues opening synced projects

Last year I upgraded to Scrivener 3 with no issues, have been using scrivener on my Mac and on IOS, syncing through Dropbox, with no issues. Last month I had an issue that forced me to create a new user on my Mac and migrate everything over. I reinstalled scrivener. Now I have two issues. In the desktop version I can not find the option to link it to the Dropbox folder to see all my existing projects. Sync is always greyed out.

More importantly, if I do navigate to the folder manually and try to open a file it tells me the file is out of date and can not be opened because it is missing the bundle file (I believe.)

To troubleshoot this I did two things. First, I manually exported a project from my iOS device, air dropped it to my Mac, and it opened fine, even if I moved it to Dropbox and opened it there. Secondly, I created a test project both on the Mac, and on the iOS device. The iOS version of acrivener had no problem opening the Mac project, but the Mac version of scrivener gave me the same error as before when trying to open the file made on the iOS.

Both scriveners are up to date. I have not updated to Tahoe, I am using the previous MacOS.

Can anyone help me out here? I don’t want to export ALL of my projects, air drop them, and manually add them. I also want the desktop scrivener to sync with my Dropbox folder again.

Thanks.

The most common cause of this error is incomplete synchronization. Dropbox (or another service) “helpfully” “optimizes” your disk so that part of the project is stored exclusively on their server, where Scrivener can’t access it.
