Somehow I’m not able to write below a certain area (sorry, couldn’t attach screenshot). Even if I copy text from a word document, the text does not show below a certain horizontal line or even allow me to write.
Have I accidentally pressed a layout feature?
Thanks for your help, I’m super stuck.
Turn off Typewriter Scrolling:
⌘ ^ T (command+control+T)
(or menu: View → Text Editing → Typewriter Scrolling)
Sadly that is not changing the problem. I’m not sure it’s in typerwriter scrolling mode. When I click enter composition mode, I can see everything, but when I go back to my editor view, only 1/4 of the text is visible. The rest disappears below an invisible line, if that makes sense.
Typewriter Scrolling works independently for both “modes” (normal Editor and Composition mode), so it may be turned on in one of them and at the same time off in the other.
But what you describe sounds different. What happens when you scroll down using the arrow keys, does the cursor also disappear?
The cursor disappears when I scroll down using the arrow keys.
Yeah, I was afraid you would say that… It’s something else that shouldn’t happen. Stupid question, but did you restart Scrivener or your computer after this happened?
I have several times
I might try and restart my computer completely and see what happens. I’m worried that this setting will be in all my 3 books I’m writing on.
What do you mean by completely? How did you restart last time?
Oh no, It’s just been on for a week or so. I don’t turn my computer off every day. Probably should.
That’s usually not necessary (but tends to fix such glitches sometimes). I only restart when it comes to OS updates, every couple weeks or months, and basically never turn the devices off.
Do you know what, I think it might have fixed the problem. Good Ol “Off and On again”
I still don’t know what happened, but hopefully this was the fix. Thanks so much for helping me out November_Sierra
Shit happens sometimes. Glad I could help.
