Switch by Chip and Dan Heath

Their previous book, Made to Stick, is probably the best book on communication that I’ve ever read. Switch is a continuation of that work, and equally brilliant and readable (the brothers are wonderful writers).

It’s about how to get people to change, a big challenge, and something we writers are naturally interested in.

For example, right now I’m procrastinating on writing a big project. So I need to apply what I’ve learned from the book and Guide the Rider (my rational side), Motivate the Elephant (my emotional side, which really wants to goof off and keeps looking at the folks happily drinking outside), and Shape the Path (get me back to Scrivener, by finishing this and going into full screen mode for an hour).
