Sync is abysmal

I LOVE scrivener but… Being able to use on iPhone / iPad and mac is just awful. Over the years, I have returned again and again to see if things have improved. They haven’t
I just took a load of note on my phone. Came back to office and typically the same result. nada! Done the sync process (Dropbox) nada.
I am fed having to use Ulysses because its sync is seamless and instant. NEVER any issue.
Is there any way to make this a seamless process and actually get the docs to sync without mind-numbing frustration.

I’m all ears for ANY solution

Does the IT networking/computing policy in your office get in the way of Dropbox working?

Dropbox supporting Scrivener sync works well for many people, including me, for many years.

Your characterisation that “sync is abysmal” is sadly unfair in the general sense, and perhaps only abysmal for you.

Check first that Dropbox is indeed working on your iOS and Windows/macOS devices (you did not mention those), and then make sure you have setup your Scrivener projects inside the Dropbox folder.

I put all my Scrivener projects into ~/Dropbox/Scrivener, each of course in its own macOS package (or Windows folder).

It’s my office, so all good there.
Dropbox all OK.
So, are you telling me that you can go to a café with your phone. Take a few notes. Close the APP, then go back to your MAC, and there are your notes. No issues. No hacks.?
If you do a search on here you will see MANY gripes about this so not sure I’m alone.
BUT… I REALLY do appreciate your reply. Any help gratefully received.

Maybe there is a PROCESS to this that I am not using

I do it all the time, sometimes multiple times a day.

  1. Make sure that the Mac is fully synchronized to Dropbox. It helps to close Scrivener when you’re away from the computer. There’s an autoclose option if you tend to forget.
  2. Synchronize the project on the phone before starting to edit it, and then again after you’re done. Again, you can configure this to happen automatically.
  3. Make sure the Mac is fully synchronized before you re-open the project. If Scrivener is already open – for instance if you forgot to close it – use the Sync with Mobile command to make sure mobile changes are incorporated into the project.
