Syncing and file formats

I’m writing a documentary script and have started to import the interview transcripts in to Scrivener, on my mac. These transcripts only come up as a boxed question mark when I sync the ipad, using dropbox. What file format should I be using?

Also, the syncing via dropbox is broken. It isn’t pulling the latest version down to my ipad. It is actually not syncing anything. I’ve tried password changes, restarting the app, re uploading from my mac, renaming the project, deleting the app and reinstalling it. Nothing worked. It keeps showing three day old files and not the latest from the mac.

So I used the filesharing via itunes instead, which only brought one of my projects in to the app. The other is not showing at all. At least it kind of transports over, but defeats the purpose of just being able to pick up one device after putting the other down, to be able to work on most current version.

Is this syncing issue a bug created by the new ios and macos? Or is this just dead in the water?

Nope. You are simply doing something seriously wrong.
You simply save your projects in a special subfolder in your Dropbox folder (or use the standard apps/scrivener subfolder), on your Mac, and then close the project on the Mac. Give the Dropbox app time to upload any changes to the Dropbox server. Then open Scrivener on your iPad, set it up to look for projects in the subfolder where you saved your project (it is explained in the tutorial in the iOS version of Scrivener) and your iPad will ask you if you want to sync. Done.
