How can you expect using Scrivener for scientific papers with a so poor table’s management?

You will probably find (I couldn’t reproduce the problem you demonstrated despite following along click for click) that these problems can be reproduced in Apple’s TextEdit as well, since that is where the tables come from in Scrivener, the text engine. As for why we haven’t spent months reinventing that particular wheel, this older thread might give some insight.
