Linux Mint TTS — Clipboard Text-to-Speech Utility for Cinnamon
I’ve released Linux Mint TTS, a clipboard-based text-to-speech utility designed primarily for Linux Mint Cinnamon.
This project originally started as an attempt to solve a practical problem:
getting reliable text-to-speech playback working smoothly with Scrivener on Linux Mint.
The project eventually evolved into a standalone clipboard-based TTS utility that works with virtually any application supporting copy/paste.
Features:
Clipboard speech playback
Keyboard shortcut support
Pause / Resume / Stop controls
Voice audition and language selection
Configurable default voice
Automatic keyboard shortcut conflict handling
Safe uninstall support
X11 clipboard support
Wayland clipboard fallback support
The installer automatically handles keyboard shortcut conflicts and can fall back between:
Ctrl+Alt shortcut set
Super+Alt shortcut set
Tested primarily on:
Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.2
Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3
