While searching for more natural sounding text-to-speech to use in Scrivener, I downloaded and installed NVDA and a couple of other natural speech text-to-speech engines, then uninstalled them because they didn’t get the job done, then downloaded some natural voices from Microsoft (through the Narrator settings in Windows 11), but now even the original default Microsoft voices no longer work in Scrivener (Zira, David, Hazel). When I use the speech feature, nothing happens anymore. In the speech settings, it’ll show “Status: Speech started…” but I don’t hear anything, and pressing pause of stop buttons won’t do anything either. Elsewhere, the voices all work fine (In MS Word, in Windows 11 Narrator, and MS Edge read aloud, etc.) How can I get it working again, and how can I install more natural text-to-speech voices for Scrivener?
