I know, I know… but its pitch is a little different to most “end of” pieces. Its references are, however, distinctly British – Ken vs Deidre anyone?[1] – and given the nature of the piece, mostly from a generation back.
This line gives a flavour:
It might be too much to ask for something as enduring as a Hamlet, a Heathcliff or a ‘Hey Jude’, but there isn’t even a Mr Bean or a Mr Blobby – just a Bonnie Blue.
I never watched that particular show, though I was once put up in its themed hotel in Manchester. I had no idea what any of the references meant. It was living in an episode of Twin Peaks. ↩︎
