I like this presentation of the Dictionary Act and it explains how a poorly phrased law let Citizen’s United become a thing. It certainly shows that we have known that this is problematic. It has been over ten years since this article was written, yet the Act still hasn’t been appropriately modified.
Citizens United has proven to allow corporations to wield more influence over the government than I can afford to. Somehow giving money is equated to the free speech of an individual Person nay a Citizen of these United States. (That seems like a good motivation for change to me. Let alone the lack of foresight into the what constitutes Writing.
