Thanks for this, I got a laugh out of it. I love how well he timed the end of line ding.
Glad you enjoyed it, AmberV. I love how virtuosic the performance is–he must have had such fun practicing. (The one problem: the dratted theme is stuck in me head–argh.)
That used to be a regular request on the BBCs 'Family Favourites' when I was a kid, in the 50
s, along with this (amongst others). youtube.com/watch?v=xjjVjoHs … re=related
I didn’t know its history, vic-k, nor The Lost Chord–delicious. “I found it, I found it! (pling).” I guess the Typewriter was a favorite Jerry Lewis sketch (according to youtube (ahem): youtube.com/watch?v=a7ySmnxy … re=related), which was fun too.
I wanted to see how the score was written, but could only find a blurry preview online–and won’t spend $40 for sheer curiosity. But then, the piece wasn’t written for an actual typewriter, either. Someone also pointed that the typewriter was in prime, maintained and tuned condition–so precise.
OK, back to work (after some more tea).
If you liked the Lost Chord, henrietta, you may like these. They were regulars on BBC
s Children
s Favourites.
