"There was a problem saving the project...Not all recent edits could be saved. The project will now close."

OK, I’m at a loss here. Bear with me. This might be a long post.

My details:
Mac OSX 10.6.8
It’s a 2010 computer that I reverted back to Snow Leopard on because I HATED Yosemite.

I very randomly (today) started getting this error that appears to be related to autosave. The error is “There was a problem saving the project [name]. Not all recent edits could be saved. The project will now close.”

Once this occurs, I can’t use Scrivener. What’s even stranger is that my whole computer stops working. My network dies. Nothing loads. I have to stop and shut down the whole computer. On reboot, everything appears to be fine…until I try to use Scrivener again. I did this a couple times, freaked out and backed up all of my files again. After that, I got a Black Shutdown Screen of Death on the laptop, leading me to troubleshoot the computer. I updated the software, rebooted. No dice. It crashed again.

I decided it must be scrivener, so I backed up my scrivener files, uninstalled, and tried to reinstall. The first time I did this I got a Network Failure and the download failed. The second time, it downloaded. Scrivener loaded just fine.

When I went to open a Scriv file, I got: “Update Project? The project you are trying to load uses an older file format and cannot be opened. Would you like to update it? A copy of the old project will be saved in the same directory.”

I update project. It makes a backup copy. I opened the not-backup copy and start to work in it. Everything seems peachy keen. 2000 words later, I save the file and relocate, open the computer and try to work on it again.

And now we’re back to square one. “There was a problem saving the project…”

Does anyone have any idea? This is the weirdest thing. I’ve changed nothing at all about my setup. This is just random to me.

Thanks for looking.
