Futilely, I tried to decide how best to untwist my mind after viewing this. But I gave up, reasoning that the problem was undecidable.

Though they gave the best presentation of this very complex subject that I have ever seen. It, by necessity, doesn’t go into all the details. One of the details is that an anomaly (undecidable statement) can be added to the original set of axioms. But this will not make the axiomatic system consistent. Why? Because Gödel proved that there would be an infinite number of anomalous statements. The upshot is that your twisted mind can now be considered the new normal. :sunglasses:

Best thing to have been said about me in more than a year.

Love the story of Yitang Zhang (I hope I didn’t butcher his name too badly), a relatively unknown and unheralded mathematician who dared to tackle the twin primes conjecture. I think his methods proved the range to be on the order of several million–that is, twin primes will re-occur infinitely often in no more than that range.

But his bold proof opened the door. Since then, the range has been narrowed to several hundred, last I heard.
