Top service at Apple

Some will know I’m ex Apple and and Apple fan, but today reinforced it.

My 3yr old MBP has had a couple of keyboard issues of late and today I took it into an ARS.

They recognised me from my Apple days, but the process was the same as for any customer, evaluate, make a decision.

Result, I’ll be getting a new top case, keyboard, battery and a new screen. The ARS I went into didn’t have the parts and said it would be 14 days, though offered and did transfer the repair to another ARS and I’ll drop it in on the way home from daughters where we spent the night. They can do it in 5 days. Meanwhile, the Lead Genius asked if it would be an issue being without a laptop for 5 days and I said it would as I have a contract to complete.

Their suggestion, purchase a new one and return it when I pick up the repair. Which I did. As I won’t be doing any intensive work I picked up a base MB Air 15”. Posting this on it after 5 minutes setting up and ready to write.

Apple allow a 10 day return for any reason to all customers.

I know that they replace almost everything as soon as one key jams, but even the screen… Holy cow! Consider me surprised.

The screen had the smallest mark on it.

The battery is just a bonus because the top case comes with keyboard, trackpad and battery pre-installed.

All good for me, another guaranteed 3 years of battery.

I should add, all at no charge.

I’m actually liking the MB Air. It’s very light and the extra 1” of screen looks good. I will return it, but the temptation next time around is to buy a Mini or Studio for the office and an Air for portable.
