In outliner mode, I can’t seem to get a total word count for a folder. My folders are chapters, with four to five scenes of around 1000 words each. It shows a word count for each scene, but for total word count, it will not sum,it just shows the total of each scene. How can I get a total for the chapter? Same thing happens if I select the entire manuscript. It only shows the total of each chapter. It will not total up the chapters and give me a word count for the manuscript. I have to select the manuscript in scrivenings mode to get a word count. What am I doing wrong?

To get a word count for your entire project, go to Project->Project Statistics. I’m not 100% sure on the total count of a selected folder, but I believe that selecting a folder only shows it’s contents in outline mode, not the folder itself, so I don’t think you’re going to be able to see the total word count at the top of your selection.
