How do i transfer my project from my apple laptop to my ipad
Hello. I don’t have an iPad. But I have read that the recommended (only?) option is to use Dropbox to sync your iPad with your desktop/laptop.
Hi Sasha,
Are you wanting to continue working on the project on both your laptop and your iPad?
If you are, the most “convenient” way is to use Dropbox, so go to:
However, there are other ways of transferring it to your iPad, including AirDrop, using other cloud services through the Files app on your iPad (but avoid Google Drive, as that has a history of renaming internal files, so screwing up the project!). There are links to another advisory on using other services given in that one in the link.
Be aware, as a Mac-user, a Scriv project looks like a file in Finder; in reality it is a package, a folder containing potentially hundreds of files in various internal folders. On cloud servers, Like Dropbox, your .scriv project will be a folder and it is essential that that whole folder is accessed by Scrivener for iPad.
But don’t panic, read the advisories carefully, and come back if you have more questions.

If that is all you are wanting is to copy your work over and use that going forward, then the simplest is to use AirDrop over your local network, to send it from the Mac to the portable device. You open it in Files, navigate to Scrivener’s local storage folder, save it into that folder, and there it is.
There are other options as well, as documented in the Mac user manual PDF, §14.2.3, Managing Projects Directly. For larger scale transfers of many projects, or very large projects, you will save yourself a lot of time by plugging it in and using Finder to copy them over USB, for example.
thank you. i downloaded the scrivener app on my ipad and ive managed to get the contents portion of my manuscript connected but no words from each chapter! any idea how to get the more complete transfer?
Exactly what did you do to transfer the Scrivener project files?
If the files appear empty, it’s clearly a synchronization problem. As the other user asked, what did you do to transfer the project to the iPad?
