Is there anyone else who uses Espanso on a Mac running Sequoia 15.7?
I’ve just updated Espanso to v. 2.2.7 and although it is apparently running (i.e. trying to open it from Applications has no effect) and has Accessibility etc. set in System Settings, there’s no menu-bar icon, no way to interact with it, and none of my shortcuts work, even though base.yaml is still where it has always been.
I’ve tried re-downloading and re-installing from the website; removing it and all it’s dependent files completely and then installing via Homebrew… all to no avail.
Have any of you encountered this problem? I’ve emailed the developer, but haven’t yet heard anything from him.
Oddly, I’ve been involved with this. It’s a macOS permissions problem – and I suspect it’s due to the previous maintainer not really having sufficient chops to deal with that.
I offered to help a few years back, but never received a reply. There has subsequently been a change of ownership, and from what I can see, the new maintainer is doing a better job – but it takes time to tidy a bunch of loose ends, and unintended consequences happen.
There are two github threads worth following: one (ignore the Tahoe tag, it’s not just Tahoe), two.
If you’re still stuck after going through those, come back here and I’ll try to help out. The good news is that 2.2.7 definitely works on macOS. The bad news is that the required incantation can be somewhat obscure.
Thanks @auxbuss. I’ve had a look at your links. But it’s got too late so I haven’t pursued it this evening. We’re also going to be away for a few days, so the problem is on the back burner till we get back. I’ll let you know how I get on and if I need more help then.
