I am unable to search for any word in my work. At first I thought “maybe I haven’t used this word before” but then I searched the protagonist’s name and again no word showed up as keyword. This happened after I updated the Windows version, I had no such problem before. Is this a bug? I tend to use this to make sure I don’t overuse words and sometimes to remember if I already mentioned something before.
The two basic troubleshooting steps to take when search is not coming back with accurate results:
- Click on the magnifying glass beside the search field, and at the very bottom, “Reset Search Options”. If it starts working immediately, then that’s probably all you need to do. You can see, with that menu open, how some of those options might make no searches work (for example if you set it to “Keywords” search and never use keywords).
- If nothing is coming back still, or the results are incomplete, use the
File ▸ Save and Rebuild Search Indexesmenu command. This may take a little while in large projects.
