Unable to open file

My MacBook Pro died a week ago. I bought a replacement (MacBook Air), re-downloaded Scrivener, and pulled my saved files from my Carbonite backup. After successfully opening my file two days ago, now every time I try the program hangs/stops responding and I end up having to ‘force quit.’ I have scoured the internet for solutions but so far nothing I have tried has worked (making sure there is plenty of memory available, restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling the program, checking for updates, clearing preferences). I am running MacOS Monterey 12.7.5. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Your operating system is well out of date. I would fix that first.

I am running the most up to date OS my computer will allow (It’s a refurbished older model). Is Scrivener not compatible with Monterey?

Required is at least 10.13 (High Sierra), four years older than Monterey (12.x). Whatever the issue may be, it’s not that.
