Hi
I have a notification on the app store that an update is available for Scrivener. When I click “update” it says “This item is no longer available”. If I go to the Scrivener store page a “this item is not available at your store (I am not in the US)” message pops up, prompting me to visit the US store in order to update it. After I click “change store” (thus going to the US store) I get an “account not in the store” message, telling me I have to switch to my country of residence store, thus closing an endless loop. How am I supposed to update it then?
Thanks for the help
Unfortunately, this is a question for Apple support. We have little ability to control which stores have iOS Scrivener, and even less ability to control the stores that you personally can access.
That is not entirely true. In iTunes Connect you can easily see how many stores that are active (green) and how many are inactive (red) and by looking in detail you can even see exactly which stores are red. Looking deeper there is usually some info as to why those stores are inactive. It can be due to changes in tax regulations or customs or something like that. Sometimes this can be fixed by probiding updated info to Apple.
This is the exact same problem I have (Philippine Store). I had an email exchange with Astrid and L&L are looking into it. I suggest you send an email to support.
I hope this does not come across as rude, but I am rather amazed by a reply like that, coming from someone at the Scrivener Support Team (according to your signature). I have lived in 4 different countries and I have downloaded 141 applications (I checked it) on my iPhone. I cannot remember ever encountering a message like that when trying to update an app. Now, out of those 141 apps probably half or more are free. If I have not seen such a problem when updating free apps I would expect a paid app (and one that I paid to have on my iPhone, macbook and windows computer) to have a better answer than “ask Apple because we have little ability to control which stores have our app”. Again, I don’t want this to sound impolite, but everybody else (free apps included) have figured this out somehow. And the suggestion to “contact Apple support” is not really a solution, as I am sure there are more than a couple of people with this issue.
Thanks for your reply Christine. I suppose you mean Scrivener support (not Apple)?
In the chance that Christine can’t get right back to you—Astrid works in customer support for Literature and Latte. You can email iOS support at: ios.support(at)literatureandlatte.com
You might want to reference this thread and flag Astrid.

Yes, as already pointed out Astrid works at Literature and Latte.
I sent her a message with a link to your post yesterday.
What Astrid told me was that Scrivener was never available on the Philippine app store and this was due to the fact that Apple did not take care of local VAT and taxes.
I have never heard of this issue she was referring too and have bought loads of apps from one person developers that are available on the local app store…
I suggest contacting her directly and adding your voice
