Using F1 to see the manual.

Hello, I’m using the latest version of Scrivener, version 3.0.1.

If I try to access the Scrivener manual using the menu item in the help menu, I get a popup saying that the manual is not located in the Scrivener resource folder and I should reinstall it to fix the problem.

It’s a brand new fresh install though and I’d rather not have to reinstall, then download the update and hope that all the little changes I made to settings weren’t lost.

I’ve downloaded the manual from the website and dropped it into the C:\Program Files\Scrivener3\resources folder, but even after a restart of the program it didn’t work. Is there anything else I can do please?

Thanks

L&L messed up some of the installation, but the help file is still available. Instead of putting the PDF into the resources folder, they put it in the main Scrivener3 folder where the program is not expecting it.

You can fix the problem by moving or copying C:\Program Files\Scrivener3\Scrivener-Manual.pdf to C:\Program Files\Scrivener3\resources\Scrivener-Manual.pdf. The Help menu item and hitting F1 will then work.

And note that the name of the help file changed from manual-win-letter.pdf to Scrivener-Manual.pdf.

BCLARKE that did it, thanks very much.

The filename I downloaded from the site was “Scrivener_Manual-Win.pdf”, which explains why it didn’t work when I put that copy in there.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the reports! The auto-updater has been fixed, so this should no longer be an issue for those downloading the update going forward.
