Due to a difficult five years in my life, many things were dropped by the way. I am now pulling my life back together and want to get Scrivener working again. I booted it up, probably for the first time on this computer, and it wants to be validated. I did put in my registration information, but there is apparently one more step, and it is not working. I get a pop up window that wants to take me to eSellerate. When I click on that, I get a message that says "Could not connect to network: eSellerate Software could not connect to the eSellerate servers due to a failed network request. (Error 0x80072EE7).
eSellerate went out of business a while ago and L&L switched the licensing to another provider. You need to download a newer version, which should then accept your license key.
If you haven’t used Scrivener in 5 years, you’re either on Scrivener 2 (on a Mac) or 1.9 (on Windows). You need to get the latest non-3 version for your platform from here: Download Scrivener | Literature & Latte (use the “previous versions” link).
Scrivener 3 is a paid upgrade and requires a new license. Downloading the latest non-3 version should get you up and running again with the license you already have.
Except that Scrivener 2 will not work with Mac OS Catalina or newer. Apple ended 32-bit support.
The OP says her version is Windows 1.7, so she’ll need to update.
Thank you! I suspected it was something like that. I will consider my options.

Ah, right. As a Mac user, I should know that
But I see the OP is using Windows, so fortunately that’s not an issue.
