I can’t figure how to get past this for the life of me. I have a forward, I can’t make it appear unless it appears as Chapter 1. I’m using Version: 1.9.16.0 - 14 Nov 2019. Can anyone please help?
I used a book template thinking it would make things easier.
This is what the left-hand bar looks like. I tried putting the forward in the “Front Matter” section then selecting it but that didn’t work. Where it is now, under Manuscript, it appears but it’s “Chapter 1” at the top. Can anyone please help?
What section type is assigned to your prologue? It should not be the section type as a chapter. I have scriv 3 in which compile is very different but it could be a section type problem.
You won’t see Section Types etc in Version 1, I’m afraid — they were introduced in Version 3 to avoid the sort of problem you’re having.
I seem to remember that there is a workaround for doing this in V1, but as it’s many years since I updated to V3, I’m afraid I can’t remember what that workaround is, sorry.
Hopefully someone with a better memory will be along shortly to help out…
I would start with a forum search like this, which looks in the Scrivener > Scrivener for Windows category, prior to the release of version 3. To go beyond that one search, get creative with the one search term on the end, “prologue”. A lot of people start their own new threads with their own specific thing, but all of these things (forward, prologue, epilogue, acknowledgements, front matter…) are fundamentally the same in terms of what we want from them.
wow, I’ve been using this app for years writing this one book, and this is the first I’m hearing about a version 3…. and it’s this hard to make a forward page show up without being “Chapter 1”?
