Subject line says it all, really. I can’t see how to make the Scratchpad less translucent. At the moment, it’s just too ghostly, and I keep hitting it by mistake, particularly when I have it floating around the vicinity of my browser window on my little MacBook screen. Go to click on a link and – hello? a Scratchpad? Gosh and blast.

Nope, you’re not missing anything - there is no setting for the scratchpad translucency. Looking at it again, it is very ghostly. What I shall probably do is make it a little less ghostly and then add a “hidden” preference for its opacity. By which I mean that you won’t be able to set it via Preferences, but if you really hate it, you will be able to change it via the command-line.

Well, I made it slightly less ghostly as it is. There is no official preference for it, but I did add a hidden preference for it. If you really want to change it, you can do so through the terminal. From the change list:
