VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Tried to install Scrivener-2997-installer_hidpi_x64.exe and upon completion, Scrivener crashes at startup with a dialog box containing the topic text. Did a search for the missing file and it is on the system in various AVAST folders but no copy otherwise exists. Suggested reinstall does nothing different.

Disable AVAST when you are reinstalling the program, and let it know that the VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is a file it should exclude from realtime scanning.

I think L&L is aware of this problem.

VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL is a Visual Studio C++ runtime library file that is not specific to Scrivener. If your search has turned up other copies, you can try taking the newest one (by file date) on your system and copying it to the Scrivener installation folder.

Sometimes this file ends up in C:\Windows\System32, and since that folder is often in the computer’s PATH variable, that explains why some people have this installation problem and others do not (Windows searches for missing DLLs in the installation folder, then in each PATH folder if it cannot find it in the installation folder).

If it can’t be found, it’s not installed correctly. You need to re-install. Please see the article how to that https://appuals.com/vcruntime140_1-dll-missing/
