The Novel template puts white space above chapter headings, but I have a prologue and epilogue which I turned into document groups (not folders) so that they wouldn’t be included in chapter counts. I put PROLOGUE and EPILOGUE in text for those two groups, and all is fine when I Compile EXCEPT that there’s no white space above those headings.

How do I provide that white space? Manually, with carriage returns?

Surely there’s a better way.

You do it via the “Formatting” pane in Compile - you’ll notice there’s an option for “Page padding”. We have three videos covering many of the details of Compile on our video tutorials page, by the way:
