Video Book

Hi. I have currently been writing a book with Scrivener for about four years. I would like to incorporate a background of images or videos as a background or in another way that could be suggested here. I’m not a big ‘user’ of Scrivener but I get there with my 24 chapters present. Is it possible to insert or integrate images, photos or videos? THANKS.

I use Scrivener 3 on a Windows 11 PC. It has a facility supporting embedding images inline. Scrivener is similar to MS-Word, with fewer options. I have used it for embedding inline photos.
Follow this menu path: Insert - Image from File
Hover over the insert command and it will give you a list of supported image file types that are supported.
You can also embed links to image files. I have not used it, but it looks a lot like MS-Word.
There’s more capability, but that should get you started.
Check out the Scrivener user manual for detailed descriptions of the commands.

Ah good. Thanks for the info. I’m looking at it closely. Thank you, this will help me I’m sure. I really like Scrivener. There are so many functions to discover, so I will put more effort into it. P.S. For me the subject is closed, at least for the moment!

Actually, the background thing is a bit of an issue. You can load video and images in the Reseach folder, but they are mostly used as Research or inline images.
Now, ePub3 e-books can deliver videos and audio, as wel as images, and compiling to ePub3 is supported. Probably, using Sigil for editing the embedded media will be necessary after compiling…

Yes, as @AntoniDol said, you’re going to need some additional tools. Scrivener can embed static images, but not audio or video, and it can’t change the page background in the output document.

Oh wow. Thank you very much, for a little old man like me it will be very useful for my autobiography.

I’ll take note of it, it will save me from wasting a lot of time. THANKS.
