I just started on Scrivener and when I view the 5 doc in my project in corkboard mode, the index cards don’t show the writing unless I hover over them. How do I get the cards to show the words on them while in corkboard?

The index cards actually show the separate synopsis (which you can see in the Inspector) for each document, rather than the content itself. Although it’s a bit more work, seeing a summary on each card is more useful than seeing the first sentence or so, and the labour of summarising is helpful for planning and organising your work anyway.
