We make a program called Scapple that does pretty much exactly what you’re displaying here. You can drop your .scap files into the Scrivener project binder along with other research. On a Mac you’ll get a simple preview in the main editor, and if you want to make change you just click a button at the bottom of the editor to open it (same as any other kind of research).

Agree, love scapple and with multi monitor setup put scapple on screen and can show character maps or character cards
