For years I’ve used DEVONthink or download webpages although I’ve stopped using the WebArchive format long ago for many reasons including that it is deprecated. (See: developer.apple.com/documentati … guage=objc )
I recently started capturing web content into Scrivener and without thinking about it, used its built-in “Import Webpage” on the Mac and then found out it uses the WebArchive format. and also unfortunately, this isn’t compatible with Scrivener 3 on Windows.
Scrivener 3 Windows also imports webpages in the .MHT format which doesn’t seem compatible with Scrivener 3 for Mac. At least, Scrivener 3 Mac won’t display it and when I try to Open with External Editor, Word fires up but then pops up the nasty message of “The operation is cancelled (content .mht).” (Uh—ok.)
So I have a number of questions about this:
-
Since WebArchive format is deprecated, what are the plans on the Mac version for downloading webpage? Is there something beyond WebArchive?
-
Since the documents created by import webpage on both Mac and Window versions are not compatible with each other, is there a plan to use a format that is compatible by both platforms?
-
I think I found a bug with the Convert Webpage to Text option in the Windows version (see: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=66277 ).
