Webpage import fails

I’ve tried many different web pages and each option and fails each time.

I’m running Windows 10 and Scrivener Version: 1.9.8.0 - 15 Jun 2018

All I can say is, you are right and your observations are accurate. Importing Web pages into Scrivener for Windows has not worked for a very long time. I believe it has something to do with Internet standards evolving past the framework on which Scriv relies. For some purposes, a Web page can be saved as a PDF file and that file can be imported into Scrivener; but that’s obviously not a general solution. This is supposed to be fixed, I believe, when the completely rewritten new version of Scriv Windows comes out later this year. It is currently available for beta testing, but I have no idea how well this particular feature is currently working.

Thanks David. I would just suggest that the company does not say that is a benefit of buying the program, since it clearly isn’t. I just purchased the product which is why I asked. That said, not a total deal breaker, just wish it was clearer since I wasted quite a bit of time trying to make it work.

Again, thanks for your candor.

Yeah, I certainly understand that! The thing is that it used to work several years ago, or at least could be made to work in most circumstances. Then it gradually deteriorated and broke. They didn’t change the description of the function, choosing instead (I speculate) to concentrate on the new version.
