Weird formatting for compiled screenplay [pages appear too small]

Hi everyone!

Relative Scrivener noob here. Wrote a practice screenplay and everything was good until I compiled it and what I got was a PDF broken up into small rectangular pages with the formatting also way off (it also did the same when I tried compiling to a .docx) . I have screenshots but can’t post because my account is too new. Didn’t really touch the compile settings so I’m not sure what happened. Any help would be great!

Hello

This (if you compiled, not exported) is likely due to your page size.
It would help to know what compile format you’ve used, but some of them use the paper size defined in your project. So, have a look under File / Page setup... and see that your paper / page size is properly set.

Hi, pro screenwriter here.

I recommend that you export your screenplay rather than compiling, I find it easier and better.

You can find the steps in this post.

Hope that helps.

I used the script/screenplay compile format. The page size is set to letter size, which is the size I’d like.

Thanks for the info. I noticed that the instructions output to FDX format. Do you know if there’s a simple way to just save/export to PDF?

I don’t know what happened but I tried to compile it again and it looks like it worked! Thanks for the help.
