I messed up a project. How do I find the backup?
Ah. Found the backup (in the Library and Application Support). Now how do I open it as the project, please?
Ah further. Found it, made a copy of it, moved that to the Desktop, clicked on it to open it, and checked it was correct.
Went to HoudahSpot and searched for the title; found two copies, deleted the wrong one.
Opened the Scrivener Projects folder and moved the right one into it.
Hunky dory.
Sorry to bother you.
Glad to see you’re back on track.

I recommend backing up to Dropbox if you can.
I don’t. Certainly not as your only backup, or if your active projects are also stored in Dropbox.
Internet outages happen. So do a variety of situations that can cause the loss or corruption of your Dropbox account. For critical work, you should have at least one backup that’s under your exclusive control.
