Just wanted to share that I’ve had great success running the Windows version of Scrivener in Linux using virtual machines, namely both Winboat and VirtualBox. I choose the virtual machine route because for the life of me I could not get scrivener to work properly under wine or it’s various permutations & spinoffs.
Unless I start having problems, I think I’ll be sticking with Winboat (https://www.winboat.app/) as opposed to VirtualBox because of the way Winboat is more seamlessly integrated into the Linux workflow. Winboat is newer project than VirtualBox, is still in beta, and doesn’t have a big company behind it like virtualbox, but they’re doing a great job so far and are creating a pretty slick product. And so far I’ve found it to just simply work for me.
If Miscroshit’s recent shenanagans with win10 & 11 and the further shitification of their products and increased spying and data sharing/stealing/selling has you down and thinking about switching to linux, well winboat &/or virtualbox can help make the transition easier without giving up a particular app like Scrivener that you love.
Donc merci Winboat

So I’m taking this opportunity to do the same .
I discovered Winboat very recently.
I find it much easier to install and configure than the other solutions I’ve tested.
It’s not perfect (I’ve had a few issues with window scaling), but honestly, since I started using it, I no longer boot up my Windows partition.
I was able to install the Windows version of Scrivener on a clean Windows system with just NexCloud for file synchronization, and everything works perfectly.
