Word Cloud generator?

Dear L&L,

Might it be possible in v.3 to have a word cloud generator feature? I ask because I do not always know beforehand what the keywords for a particular document should be, and only discover what my central terms are once I have written a draft.

A feature that would automatically create, in a Project and/or Document Note perhaps, or along with the Word Count and Track Progress features, a word cloud that shows the number of times each word is used (excluding grammatical articles and pronouns, etc.), so that highly-used terms are in large font? This would allow users to find out what words they use most often, within documents and across an entire project. Then, we could recognize which terms can or should be the keywords, and which terms are unnecessarily overused.

I hope this explanation makes sense. I know that there are online word cloud generators, but an internal tool would be preferable since I usually turn off my wifi when I’m writing.

BTW, I realize this idea may sound similar to the immediately previous topic, titled “Word Count Tracking, Pomodoro & Calendar Progress,” but that one seems to have gone in a different direction.

Thanks so much,
glj.

Version 2 already has a word frequency list — I think it’s on the Project > Statistics menu. It’s not a Word Cloud, but it will still tell you which words are used most often for your selected text.

It’s enhanced in Version 3, I think — I don’t think you can ignore words in V2, but you can in V3.

Any way to export the list in V3?

It seems to be a return-delimited text file, so copy and paste works and there’ll be a file behind the scenes somewhere, I image, but I can’t see a formal export mechanism - not sure it would be necessary.

Excellent, thanks.
