Wrong External Editor

I seem to be having a problem with which External Editor is set on my system. I have Skim set as the default PDF viewer. I’ve set this using DefaultApplicationX as well as checking it with Get Info. PDFs open in Skim.

When I Open in External Editor in Scrivener, Preview opens the document. I’ve logged out and in, restarted, doubled checked the filetype mapping to Skim and it all seems fine, but the error persists.

Can anyone help?

Try dragging a PDF that you know for sure opens in Skim, into Scrivener, and then use external editor. Does it still open in Preview? Though I have not personally seen this happen, it might be that the PDFs inside your Scrivener project are not getting updated by the OS.
