Despite making changes and hoping to see them in the editor pane. Not seeing any difference. I wanted to choose a background for my ‘texture’ behind the editor.
i change fixed width background color nothing happens. I have no (&( clue what Media Background even means.
Any help?
First of all, you set the colour you want the FW background to be in Preferences > Appearance > Main Editor > Fixed Width Background — in the ‘Colours’ panel
Then you turn it on or off in the ‘Options’ panel.
(I don’t usually use that colour… it’s just to show you it’s working…
There’s a similar logical split between the operation and format for many of the appearance options.
Scrivener uses ‘media’ to mean files such videos or audio content, so Media background is just what you see around the video/audio in the editor.
HTFH.
You need to have the fixed width editor turned on and have it set to a width narrower than the current window width to make the background colour appear. You do that as brookter said. Here’s a screenshot of the result:
Until someone knowledgeable comes along I will assume that media background colour is a similar sort of thing to show up behind embedded photos, videos, and the like.
Thanks y’all. I guess the grouping of the switches is odd sometimes. All I can say is it wasnt working in my previous session,
I had intuited the switch for fixed background but even then it didnt work when i toggled it. it didnt work meaning
it didnt take…i was able to chose a texture but it was not showing (even though switch in options was checked)
either way im good now… It is reminiscent of a clearing the cache solution that my devs will often get too. In this case, instead of “try clearing the cache” try reopening Scrivener. This isnt the first time something didnt work but in a new session or something it then does work.
like i said im good now thanks forum for the details. Much appreciated the good community here.
Cheerio.
